Nora Matrka was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. She majored in Fine Arts and received a Bachelor of Arts from Kenyon College in 1980. After college, Nora returned to Columbus where she worked and painted until her untimely death in 1989.
Nora was skillful with watercolors, oils, pen and ink. Through various techniques, she transformed her handmade paper into finished works of art. Professors and friends described her style as sensitive and delicate. Her specialties were miniatures and etchings; she particularly enjoyed painting flowers and animals.
Nora was a proud member of the Central Ohio Diabetes Association and volunteered her time as a counselor at Camp Hamwi. These exquisite handmade prints are examples of her work as an artist. A portion of the proceeds will go towards the agency's Camp for Youth with Diabetes, Camp Hamwi.
